Star forward faces long layoff after right knee injury against former team.
Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler could miss the remainder of the NBA season after suffering a serious right knee injury, according to US media reports.
CBI News reports that Butler was helped off the court after falling awkwardly following a collision with Miami Heat guard Davion Mitchell during Golden State’s 135 to 112 win over his former team on Monday.
The Warriors said they would provide an update on Tuesday after results from an overnight MRI scan were reviewed.
Multiple media outlets reported that Butler, a six time NBA All Star, had torn his anterior cruciate ligament and is not expected to play again this season.
The 36 year old Butler has averaged 20.1 points per game in his first full season with Golden State since joining from Miami last year.
