If you are gearing up for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ service year, here is one update you cannot afford to ignore.

The National Youth Service Corps has announced that NERD clearance is now compulsory for all Prospective Corps Members, and without it, you will not be mobilised. Simple as that.

The scheme dropped the notice on its official X account on Monday, and it was very direct about it.

According to the notice, “This is to inform PCMs that without NERD clearance, no NYSC. Get your NERD clearance early. Avoid delays in your mobilisation.”

It doubled down with another line: “NERD clearance is compulsory for all PCMs. No NERD clearance, No NYSC!!!”

While the NYSC did not share full details of the clearance process in the notice, the message is clear, the verification process is getting stricter as preparations for the next orientation exercise gather pace.

This comes just hours after the scheme announced mobilisation for the next batch and urged schools and graduates to complete all necessary documentation.

It also follows its recent safety advisory, where prospective corps members were advised to avoid night travel to camp, break long journeys when needed, and lodge in safe locations or approved military and security formations.

It is all part of efforts to tighten the integrity of the mobilisation process and keep corps members safer on the roads.

So, if you are on the list, now is the time to get your paperwork in order, especially that NERD clearance.
